Coachs Departure Follows Altercation With Players

Xavi's Turbulent Tenure Ends with Sacking by Barcelona

Coach's Departure Follows Altercation with Players

Title Defense in Jeopardy After Girona Exile

In an unexpected turn of events, FC Barcelona has announced the dismissal of head coach Xavi after just three years at the helm. The decision comes following a heated altercation with players during a training session in the wake of the club's humiliating 5-3 home defeat against Villarreal.

Xavi's departure casts a shadow over Barcelona's title defense in La Liga. The Catalan giants currently sit eight points behind league leaders Real Madrid, with just 15 games remaining in the season.

The former midfield legend joined Barcelona in 2019 with high expectations, having enjoyed a successful playing career with the club. In his first season, he led Barca to a respectable second-place finish in La Liga and victory in the Copa del Rey.

However, the following season saw the club endure a trophyless campaign, finishing third in La Liga and losing in the Champions League semi-finals. This season has been even more disappointing, with Barcelona crashing out of the Champions League in the group stage and struggling to keep pace in the league.

Xavi's relationship with the players had reportedly deteriorated in recent months, culminating in the altercation that led to his exile against Girona. The club has yet to announce a replacement, and it remains to be seen who will take over the reins at Camp Nou.
